I was thinking of getting a copy of F to "carry work back
home", as I can't afford a full LF95 licence for my own personal
use. Before I commit time (and probably the 60 US$ to get the CD
and "help the cause" :D), I would like to hear comments from anyone
who has had any experience. My main problem is portability to/from
Lahey on Linux, at some point I might decide to use the Sun's
compiler on Sun's workstations around, but as I've said, mainly
LF95 on linux.
It would be nice to have some other goodies (such as have a
some sort of conditional compilation, by which I mean that if the
compiler being used is LF95, I _want_ to use some libraries,
whereas if it's F, I'd rather use some others).
Any comments shall be welcomed.

I haven't had good experience with F because of its restrictions. If
you want compatibility with Lahey, I would recommend Lahey's elf90. It
used to be free but now costs a little more than F. I've written and
compiled a 35,000 line program in elf90 and it ported without any
problems on all platforms available to me (LF90 and DVF on
Intel/Windows, FortranPlus on Intel/OS2, f90 on DEC and SUN, and
Absoft Fortran on Mac and Intel/Linux).
