Climate change: sink or swim?
The Science & Public Affairs Forum
6 December 2000, 6.30pm
Institute of Physics, 76 Portland Place, London W1N 3DH
Recent bad weather cannot be attributed to global climate change with
confidence, but most scientists now agree that the next 50 years will see
major changes in the world¹s weather patterns. With international greenhouse
gas negotiations taking place in The Hague at the end of November, is enough
being done on our behalf to reduce and cope with the effects?
Hear the latest from senior scientists and have your say.
Speakers include:
Professor Alan Thorpe, Director of the Met Office¹s Hadley Centre for
Climate Prediction and Research
Dr Mike Hulme, Executive Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change
Research at University of East Anglia.
The forum wil be chaired by Clive Cookson, Science Editor of the Financial
Times.
There will be a reception after the discussion to which all participants are
welcome.
