Opening in summer 2000, SENSATION - Dundee's Science Centre is an exciting
new visitor attraction focusing on the life sciences. We are looking to
recruit an enthusiastic team to make sure it gets off to a sensational
start. 

Education Officer
Salary Range: £12-£15K depending on experience

Contributing to the development and delivery of SENSATION's Education
Programme, your responsibilities will include liasing with teachers to
ensure that the full potential of the programme is achieved.  You will be
involved in running sessions for visiting schools and contributing to the
production of educational materials and will assist the Education Manager to
ensure the smooth-running of the Education Programme.

You will be a motivated, enthusiastic educator with a commitment to science
in both formal and informal education.  You will be able to communicate with
both children and adults and will be keen to share your enthusiasm and
expertise with a wide range of people.  Creative and responsible, you will
have some experience of working in an informal education environment.

IT Explainer
Salary Range: £12-15K depending on experience

Your wide ranging brief will include communicating and explaining
Information Technology to public groups and school visitors.  You will also
be required to assist existing IT staff to co-ordinate the running of IT
within the science centre.

You must have a relevant qualification and at least one year's experience in
IT, teaching or communicating with the public.  A good, foundation knowledge
of science in general would be desirable but not essential.  You must have
excellent communication skills and loads of enthusiasm.  You should be able
to work with others and on your own initiative.  Relevant training will be
provided.

Explainers/Presenters
Salary Range £9-£13K pro rata
Several positions - Full and part-time opportunities

We are looking for people to ensure that our visitors have a sensational
time.  You will be responsible for interacting with visitors in the
exhibition, helping them to get the most out of the hands-on exhibits.
Ensuring that a visit to SENSATION is exciting and fun, you might find
yourself presenting a show, demonstrating keyhole surgery or explaining why
we have hairs in our noses!

You will be hard-working, with an ability to communicate with the public.
You will be keen to share your enthusiasm about science with the public and
will want to make sure that visitors can't wait to come back.  Full training
will be provided.
