      Describes the historical and philosophical development of
      artificial intelligence, as discussed by some of the most
      eminent theorists on the subject. Journals, dictionaries,
      encyclopaedias, associations, and societies relating to the
      discipline are also provided. Available in English and
      Hebrew.

 Move Announcer
      Service striving to avoid broken Web links by maintaining
      an index of addresses to identify webmasters who are
      connecting to old pages. In addition, authors are invited
      to register their old and new URLs with the service, which
      will then notify those linking to the superseded version of

 LiveRef: Registry of Real-Time Digital Reference Services
      Provides a listing of libraries which offer real-time
      reference services using Internet technologies. Each
      institution is categorised as academic, governmental,
      public, or special, with an indication of software
      employed.
 Save Our Sounds
      A preservation program established to restore and make
      available collections of historical recordings of spoken
      word and music. Provides access to inspirational music,
      songs, poems, and speeches from countries around the world,
      as well as recordings from every US state. RealPlayer is
      required for some material.
 Ixquick Metasearch
      Cross searching facility which locates Web material, news,
      MP3 files, and pictures in a range of languages including
      English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish,
      as specified.
 Freelance Journalist
      Directory of UK freelance journalists' Web pages, hosted
      for an annual fee. Also provides a listing of links to
      resources likely to be of use to freelancers.
 Cambridge Journals Online
      Searchable collection of tables of contents and abstracts
      taken from a selection of Cambridge University Press
      journals. An email alerting service is available upon
      registration, and full text articles can be freely accessed
      by institutions holding a subscription to paper based
      equivalents.
 Electronic Table of Contents from the British Library
      Service providing access to tables of contents of journals
      and conference proceedings covering topics within science,
      technology, medicine, engineering, business, law, finance,
      and the humanities. Records are freely available to UK
      further and higher educational institutions, and details of
      how to order full text material are included.
 JustBooks UK
      Fully searchable online book shop selling second-hand and
      antiquarian titles covering a wide range of subject areas.
      Individuals are invited to post books for sale, or place
      requests for elusive publications.

 100 Philosophy and psychology

 PsychScholar
      Collection of links aimed at both psychology professionals
      and students. Provides access to online journals, mental
      health information, research material, teaching resources,
      departments, societies, and software. A range of tutorials,
      demonstrations, and career decision aids valuable to under
      or postgraduate students is also available.
 Electronic Journals and Periodicals in Psychology
      Set of links to electronic journals, conference
      proceedings, and bibliographies relating to the field of
      psychology. Covers a range of psychological disciplines
      including developmental, behavioural, cognitive, clinical,
      neurological, educational, social, statistical, and
      experimental, and also offers selected titles on
      psychiatry.
 British False Memory Society
      Publications discussing the occurrence of false memory, the
      reliability of recovered memory, and associated dangers,
      most notably in cases of child sexual abuse. Current news
      articles and the society's newsletter are among the
      resources available.
 Unified Theory of the Nervous System and Behavior
      Collection of essays which attempt to develop a theoretical
      analysis of the different medical practices and issues
      inherent in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness
      and neurological disorders.
 FARM - Farm Animal Reform Movement
      An educational resource concentrating on promoting a
      vegetarian lifestyle and the rights for farmed animals.
      Contains information on the organisation's campaigns,
      publications, and news releases.
 PETA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
      Essays covering four key areas relating to animal rights,
      namely factory farms, laboratory experimentation, the
      fashion industry (fur and leather), and the entertainment
      industry. Also provides information on PETA campaigns and
      vegetarianism.
 Vegan
      Deals with both practical and ethical issues relating to
      veganism. The Resource Library answers FAQs, provides a
      useful bibliography, and offers a list of food additives
      which may or may not be suitable for vegans. The Online
      Magazine includes articles addressing issues like GM foods,
      the use of antibiotics on farm animals, and the potential

 Sierra Leone Index
      Offers news and links to resources relating to life in
      Sierra Leone, arranged by categories such as companies,
      culture, human rights, politics, and travel. Brief
      descriptions of each resource are provided.
 Al Jadid Magazine: A Review and Record of Arabic Culture and
 Arts
      A discursive representation of aspects of Arabic culture
      and arts, published in the English language. Full text
      versions are available for many magazine features, which
      include book reviews, essays, and interviews with
      intellectuals of the Arab world. Film, theatre, and women's
      issues are also covered.
 Urban Ethnography of Latino Street Gangs
      A detailed study of the urban gang culture among
      Latin-American youths. The methodology is based upon a
      series of interviews and questionnaires, which sought to
      explore gang members' attitudes and experiences of
      home-life, schooling, social identity, and criminal
      behaviour, as well as exploring the role of female members.
 Scottish Parliament Live
      Live Webcast transmitting the main chamber proceedings of
      the Scottish Parliament. News and future business sections
      are available, as well as a full archive of past
      broadcasts. Requires RealPlayer.
 Conflict Diamonds
      Provides information on conflict diamonds, described as
      gems which originate from areas opposed to legitimate
      governments, and subsequently used to fund military
      operations against them. Describes steps being taken to
      halt such trade, and examines UN activity on conflict
      diamonds in Sierra Leone and Angola.
 Journalist's Guide to Economic Terms
      Aimed primarily at journalists, this resource offers brief
      definitions of key economic terms to assist novices in
      interpreting news stories and articles about economics.
 Dutch National Accounts 1800-1940
      Analyses the development of the Dutch economy from
      1800-1940, using data gleaned from a project undertaken to
      reconstruct the Netherlands' national accounts during this
      period. Identifies the sources employed, provides a
      complete data archive, and offers the full text of the
      final report.
 East Asia Regional Update
      September 2000 report from the World Bank describing the
      recovery of the East Asian economy from the 1997 crisis.

      Searchable and browsable database presenting definitions
      for terms used in the field of finance and investment.
      Arranged by category, subject headings include acronyms,
      bonds, options and futures, stock trading, and world
      financial markets. Also offers a collection of articles and
      tutorials on related topics.
 Global Macroeconomics and Financial Policy
      Collection of links to key articles and current news
      stories relating to global macroeconomic conditions and
      financial policies. Topics covered include globalisation,
      world bank reform, the Euro, debt relief for poor
      countries, and the Asian crisis.
 FirstGov.gov
      Provides one-stop access to US Federal Government resources
      online. Material is arranged within categories such as
      agriculture and food, consumer services and safety, federal
      benefits and grants, library and reference, and science and
      technology. Also offers information relating to the
      executive, legislative, and judicial arms of the
      government.
 Association for Learning Technology
      Organisation aiming to promote good practice in the use of
      learning technologies within the higher and further
      education sectors. Information offered includes membership
      details and a list of current institutional members, as
      well as news, publications, conferences, and workshops.
 Guide to E-Commerce
      Presents an introduction to electronic commerce, along with
      annotated links to a range of related resources such as
      legal material, industry associations, online news, and
      journal sources.
 Armenianradio.com
      Presents a weekly discussion program addressing various
      cultural and socio-political topics. Also offers
      information on Armenian music, instruments such as the
      Duduk, Dhol, and Shvi, and online games including chess,
      torpedo, and tailgunner. Windows Media Player is required.
 Folklore
      Electronic version of the journal of the same name, with
      full text articles available relating to many areas of
      ethnological research. Topics of interest include
      comparative religions, cosmology, traditional customs,
      ethnomusicology, and belief concepts from many countries
      around the world.
 Folklore and Mythology Electronic Texts
      Collection of folktales, folklore, fairy tales, and
      mythology from around the world, arranged by theme. Also
      provides links to material on Aesop's Fables, Hans
      Christian Andersen, and the Grimm Brothers.

 English-Romanian Dictionary
      Offers an English-Romanian/Romanian-English translation
      service, a facility to conjugate Romanian verbs, a

 Aboriginal Language
      Set of links to indigenous Australian language resources
      such as dictionaries, and workshops, together with
      information about their origin, use and salience, regions
      where employed, and associated culture.
 Aboriginal Languages of Australia
      Collection of links providing information about some of
      Australia's indigenous languages including Arrernte, Eora,
      Kaurna, Pakanh, Wambaya, and Yolngu. Resources can be
      browsed by language name, state, or type of resource such
      as dictionary, text, song, bibliography, or book.
 Australian Aboriginal Languages
      An index of language material comprising information about
      Awabakal, Yindjibarndi, and Kamilaroi or Gamilaraay, as it
      is sometimes known.
 Australian Language
      Collection of material relating to modern day language in
      Australia. Features links to Aussie slang dictionaries,
      rhyming slang, hypocoristics, and Ozwords, a newsletter
      produced by the Australian National Dictionary Centre.

 NAS: National Autistic Society
      Various information services that cater for both those who
      suffer from autism and for their families. Resources
      include details of campaigns, a list of UK branches, as
      well as a news and document archive.
 Folk Psychology vs. Mental Simulation: How Minds Understand
 Minds
      Collection of essays adopting a philosophical approach to
      the theoretical analysis of folk psychology - the means by
      which individuals understand, predict, and explain the
      actions, thoughts, and motivations of others.
 Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Australia
      Offers information on legislation, ministers, policies and
      programs, and events relating to the Australian
      agricultural, food, fisheries, and forestry industries.
      Areas of interest include quarantine, economics, rural
      issues, international trade, and the environment.
 VetVista
      Information on animal disease, health, and well-being
      offered by veterinary professionals. For registered users,
      advice on animal behaviour or health can be sought on a
      fee-paying basis, although this is not intended to be an
      adequate replacement for veterinary examination. Animals
      covered include cats, dogs, fish, horses, birds, and small
      mammals. Also provides a facility to search for UK vet
      surgeries by postcode.

 World Chess Championship 2000: Kasparov vs Kramnik
      Information about the chess match between Garry Kasparov
      and Vladimir Kramnik which took place in London between 8th
      October and 4th November 2000. Includes a profile of each
      player, live updates and analysis of games in progress, and
      articles on the history of the world championship.

      Offers tables of contents of journals dealing with

      text format.

      Findings of the official inquiry into hunting with dogs in
      England and Wales. Considers the effects a ban may have
      upon all aspects of rural life, from the economy to

      Database of quotations which can be searched by keyword,
      subject, or author. Entries can also be browsed by
      categories including insults, criticism, marriage,
      literature, war, and drinking, and random quotes can be
      generated by selecting the lucky dip feature. Quotes may
      also be submitted for inclusion.
 Irish Literature, Mythology, Folklore and Drama
      All aspects of the Irish literary tradition are represented
      within this resource, which provides links to material
      dealing with the Gaelic language, Irish mythology, and
      folklore. The lives and works of famous Irish writers and
      poets are also included, featuring authors such as Oscar
      Wilde, W.B. Yeats, and James Joyce.

      Aborigines, songs and poetry, famous Australians, and
      common slang expressions.
 Fordham University: Internet History Sourcebooks Project
      An educational resource providing links to historical and
      cultural information. Various civilisations are represented
      including African, Asian, Indian, Jewish, and Islamic.
      Additional resources relate to the history of science,
      gender studies, and issues relating to the study of
      sexuality.
