Dear SALALM members:
I assume that, as a SALALM member, I can respond with additional
information to
this message.
Enciclopedia Espasa continues to be available in print form in the initial
basic
work plus the biannual supplements published regularly. The latest two
supplements: 1993-94, 1995-96 and an "Appendix A-Z 1996". The total number of
volumes now is 114 making it the largest encyclopedia in the market. From the
information we have, there are no immediate plans to publish a CD-ROM of E.
Espasa.
Enciclopedia Universal made by MICRONET (a specialist in CD-ROM products in
Spain) is not based on the E. Espasa. Nonetheless it is the most extensive
electronic encyclopedia today in the market in Spanish and probably the one
with
the best software interface. It works only with Windows. Version 7.0 is the
latest available. A DVD version was put on sale last year but withdrawn later
because of lack of sales (we were told). They will launch it again, maybe
later
this year.
Those who are looking for a Mac-based CD-ROM encyclopedia would need to
purchase
the Encyclopedia Salvat.
Our website describes in great detail these and many other reference products
for Spanish and Latin American studies.
Saludos a todos los miembros (damas y caballeros) del SALALM!
