Here are the details of the programme about which I recently sent a first
notice:
Career Development Opportunities for Contract Research Staff
UCL has been awarded a contract by the EPSRC to provide career development
to researchers whose short-term contracts are funded by the Research
Council. This is part of a national project building upon the concordat
for contract research staff. There are 40 places available on this new
course and there will be no charge for participation. This is the only
opportunity to take this course in London, free of charge.
The intensive residential course will be run in London on 9-10 March 2000.
This will be followed by a two-day period of work shadowing or industrial
visits (tailored to meet individual needs), followed by a single day in May
when intelligence gathered will be shared and presented to a chosen
audience. Participants will be helped to evaluate their own career
development needs as well as having opportunities to improve their
professional (non technical) skills through structured activities and
feedback on performance.
The EPSRC will be writing to Heads of Department in universities to
emphasise the importance they place upon this initiative.
To request further details and an application form, please complete and
submit the form at www.ucl.ac.uk/cpd/request.htm. Last date for
applications is 16 February 2000. For any further information, contact
[log in to unmask], or Wendy Riley on 0171-504 4990.
