Thanks, Mike, for your quick and very helpful email. Other folk have kindly
directed me to bibliographies by Cheesman, Atkinson and Richmond, and I've
got a Ballad Commission site to investigate too - so I'll add FMJ at the
EFDSS site and check out the Jahrbuch.
We have now dubbed about 120 tapes (one for each ballad) from our Archives
here (Vancouver Folk Song Society). Of course, three-quarters or more come
from Ewan and Peggy (Ewan's 1961 Child two-fer, and the "Long Harvest" and
"Blood and Roses" series). Also very useful were the Caedmon and Jean
Ritchie Child ballad two-fers. Are there any recent British collections we
might have missed, do you know of?
