medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Tom, how nicely polite of you - if it is so was it not only inaccurate of me,
but some incompetent nonsense. My memory does not seem to work
very well here from my summer house;-)
More than 30 years have passed since I made excerpts from Vincent of Beauvais
and Thomas Aquinas. A canonicus regularis in Paris as Hugo would certainly
be better informed.
Maybe I should apply for a Seniority Membership of this list in good time before
I reach seventy?
Here is a sort of relevant quatrain from a Paris calendar c.1500:
¶ Quant l'homme a soixante six ans vient
Representé par le moys de Novembre
Vieux, et caduc, et maladif devient
Lors de bien faire est temps qu'il se remembre.//
All best
Erik
