medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Jim: I rather rashly said that corrodians were oblates.
Assuredly many were, but perhaps some were not. I know of a widow of
a knight with a son and a daughter living at the Benedictines of
Lezat south of Toulouse and obviously pensioners or something like
that of the monastery. I'm sure there's much more material and many
more monographs about the system than when I published in Traditio
ten or twenty years ago. John
