medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I am working on an article dealing with the medieval polemical response to the Muslim belief in the intercession of Muhammad. Excuse my ignorance concerning this topic, but is there a good book or article on the role of intercession (Christ as mediator/intercessor; Mary, saints) in the middle ages? I figure there is a lot of literature on this topic, so quality is important. Was intercession ever a contested issue in the middle ages (as it will be during the Reformation)?
Thanks!
By the way, returning back to our discussion a while back about resurrection: Bernardino da Siena has a discussion of the 4 "doti" (the 4 qualities of the resurrected body)- in one of his Easter sermons. Thanks again for all who participated in that discussion. It was very helpful.
