Dear Timothy,
I am working - intermittently- on Peter of
Blois, though only on the letters I am afraid. I wrote my
PhD thesis (The Letter Collections of P. of B., published
in Studia Gothoburgensia in 19993) on the various editions
of Peter's letter collections, and have had one article
published in the English Historical Review since (Peter of
Blois and the Later Career of Reginald fitzJocelin- 1996, I
think that was). My own interests are in the letter
collection as a genre of literature; I am working on an
article/monograph on that subject. The impression I get is
that not much work has been done on the sermons; perhaps,
because people feel that Peter is such an unoriginal parrot
that there is not likely to be much in them. Well, they may
all be wrong; it sounds worth looking into. I cannot quite
remember, but it is possible that Michael Markowski has
done some work on the sermons; he has written on Peter and
the Crusade. For general background/mentality, have you
come across Rolf Kohn's book on Militia Curialis. As far as
I know professor Kohn is still working on a new edition of
the letters.
I think I had better go home and look at my notes; I will
let you know if I turn up anything interesting.
Best of luck with Peter!
Lena
