DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND GENERAL PRACTICE
As a Research Fellow with NZHTA, you will be a part of a multi-disciplinary
research unit and New Zealand's national centre for examining information
on the effectiveness of health care interventions and technologies. The
unit's activities include carrying out systematic reviews and developing
and maintaining a collection of evidence-based information to support
government health policy and purchasing.
This full-time, fixed-term position is available immediately until 30 June
2000. Reporting to the Director of NZHTA, you will be responsible for
planning, managing and undertaking systematic reviews.
The position calls for an experienced person who has advanced
qualifications in social science, epidemiology, health economics or
medicine and a range of investigative, critical appraisal, report writing
and presentation skills. Persons with experience/training in epidemiology,
health economics, and statistics are strongly encouraged to apply.
The position would be suitable as either a short-term secondment (3-6
months) or working holiday for researchers interested in spending some time
in New Zealand in the first half of 2000.
Candidates should:
· Hold a post graduate qualification in social science or medicine
· Have appropriate health research experience, including an advanced
knowledge and application of quantitative and/or qualitative research
methodologies
· Be able to demonstrate excellent research, analytical and project
management skills
· Demonstrate ability to communicate with a wide variety of clients and
colleagues within the health sector
The salary range for a Research Fellow (non-medical) is $45,000 to $55,500
per annum pro rata and for a Research Fellow (medically qualified) is
$47,250 to $55,250 per annum pro rata. Appointment will be made at an
appropriate step in these ranges depending on qualifications and experience.
