Have you read a paper this year which has impressed you which relates to
general practice? Entries are now being sought for the 1999 RCGP
Research Paper of the Year award.
This is the fourth year of the award - so far the award has been given
to two papers on qualitative studies and one on a quantative study. The
winning authors receive a cheque for £1,000.
Papers should have been published in a peer reviewed journal during
1999, and one of the lead authors needs to be a general practitioner who
was still in active practice at the time the research was being
undertaken.
Entries are judged against a number of criteria. Originality - is it
something not previously studied? Applicability - is it applicable to
"everyday" general practice? Scientific content - will it add to the
body of science in general practice and primary care? Presentation - is
the paper clear and easy to read?
Entries may be submitted by anyone who has read a paper which impressed
them or by authors themselves. The closing date for the 1999 award is
Friday, 14th January 2000 and more details may be obtained from Fenny
Green ([log in to unmask]).
