Ted Harding speaks of insight.
I came across this poem today by Stan Goulston, inspired by the
University of Sydney Evidence-Based Medicine Program, 1 December 1999.
Abbreviations and symbols
Yesterday, in the comfortable setting,
Within the sight of Norman Gregg
Brilliant academia portrayed
The virtues of Evidence-Based Medicine.
Sprinkle holy water,
On the abbreviations
The new symbols;
Hail EBM
And PBL;
Deference to ICA and RPP;
Welcome to PEARLS.
Goodbye intuition
Farewell imagination.
Kneel to the all-powerful computer,
Be the spider in your Web
Be the mouse in your Apple.
Oh! mourn the old days, (OD)
Oh! mourn the old ways, (OW)
Oh! where are the clowns?
Bring on the clowns. (BOTC)
