Dear Josef,
For some perverse reason i find the contemporary [attempted] trade in quite
ordinary rocks from a Jerusalem parking lot to be eversomuchmore odious than
the honest bottling of the Virgin's sighs (which must have been pretty
substantial, after all), or genuine Foot-crushed berries.
i don't know why, exactly.
something about should be knowing better, perhaps.
(although i have to say that i actually look forward to *some* aspects of the
comming return of the dominance of the Bicameral Mind, which seems to be the
way we're heading, ninety miles an hour down a dead end street.)
in any event i wrote the guy when i got the junk (originally thinking
that it came through the Byzantine list to which i also subscribe) and
got some kind of automated reply, viz.:
>HI
>WE Get YOUR LETTER AND WE WILL
>BE IN LIAISE WITH YOU SOON AS WE CAN
>FORGIVE AS ABOUT THE DELAY

Needless to say, i can't tell you how much i look forward to LIAISEing with
this moron in future.
And am *really* glad to have avoided getting stuck in a mail loops.
Best to [almost] all from here,
Christopher
>I recall examining several inventory lists from XIIIthc Cistercian
monasteries (searching for "evidence" of a response toburgeoning
affective piety) which could adequately compete... including a crystal vial
with "sighs of the Virgin":, and a reliquary of "berries" crushed by the feet
of Christ.
I think there exists a fixed market for such entry points to popular piety. I
agree with your assesment and perhaps the list procurator could ubraid him a
bit.
