oh dear... when I wrote "earlier times," I was *hoping* that earlier times would stretch back to the very beginning, but most any form of earlier than modern would at least be useful. below are some queries.

how do I find such sources? I spent the afternoon in the Div School reference room, going through Liturgical Dictionaries, and found only 1 mention- that olive branches and palm fronds are interchangeable for Palm Sunday.

I am looking for both types of references, actually- though soon I fear I may have to cut my research off and sit down to write.
