Thanks for pointing out the screening of this film. It is buried deep
in the recesses of TV listings, and has been given very little
publicity. Any of us interested in cinematic representations of the
Holcaust - or perhaps considering the filming of a text (De Sica's
'Giardino dei Finzi-Contini' would be an interesting comparison) will
be grateful! It is certainly the case that this film came up against
the publicity machine for Benigni's 'La vita e' bella'and received
little widespread distribution. For the work of a director of the
status of Rosi, this is a great pity.
