Scotland’s premier library - one of the largest in the United Kingdom
- is seeking to appoint two specialist curators, one to head the Music
Division and the other to undertake cataloguing and a range of other
tasks in the Map Library.
The Head of Music will manage and develop the printed collections of
music and will have responsibility for acquisition, cataloguing, stock
management and the handling of user enquiries. Applicants must have
a knowledge of music, preferably to honours degree standard, and will
ideally possess a librarianship qualification and have substantial
relevant experience.
The Map Cataloguer/Assistant Map Curator will be responsible for
cataloguing maps and other material, will assist with digital
initiatives and will play a full part in user services. Applicants
must have in-depth experience of MARC cataloguing and AACR2 and some
relevant experience. They should ideally possess an honours degree
and a professional library qualification. The successful candidate
will have a passionate interest in maps.
Starting salary will depend on skills and experience but, for the Head
of Music, is likely to be between £13,400 and £23,700 a year and for
the Map Cataloguer/Assistant Map Curator between £11,000 and £20,000;
there is scope for further progression over time.
