Dear Kate
Following your posting to the forum I am writing to advise on our
experience with year 2000 contingency planning. This basically
consisted of someone from internal audit ringing us at 5pm on a Friday
evening and telling us to have our plan with them by Monday morning.
Our hurriedly put together plan comprises: -
1 all staff will prepare a file of current work and other material
necessary to carry out thier duties (e.g. diary, address book etc). This
will be kept with the officer in case access to the workplace is not
possible.
2 Mobile phones will be issued to key staff to enable a communication
link to be maintained.
3 Information systems will be backed up and stored remotely
4 In order to allow any difficulties to be dealt with staff will not
make any appointments for the first two days back at work.
Hope this is of some help
Peter Rowe
