There are some outliers (+/- 3SD) that I would eliminate , but others
conducting the research with me feel that this might be a minority view, and
should not be eliminate from the dataset......any views or references that I
should read to confirm my view, or thiers?

Dear all,
Regarding the above query by Karen may I add this scenario please.
A group of clinical pathologists from our institution have measured
biochemical markers for thyroid disease in patients attending primary health
care centres and there are outliers in the values. They consider that they
should eliminate them and project the graph based on those without the
outliers to set norms for the thyroid measurements in the population. They
came to me with two questions.
1) Are they correct in eliminating these outliers?
2) If they want to project the graph based on those without the outliers is
there any programme that will do this as they feel doing this manually is
very cumbersome.
Any lead/help will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Badri
