Couldn't someone remind ASBH that they have to provide "access" to their
conf. Therefore, providing a printed transcript and/or aduiotape
(Newsprograms do this for this reason) provides access for Deaf/people with
hearing impairments, and to not do so is discrimanation under ADA or
whatever. Don't know if this is true (not an ada compliance officer--
anyone?) but maybe it's worth a shot. If I don't know, then my guess is
the organizers won't either cuz they haven't hired someone like Simi to
deal w/ access issues. But no one likes the word discrimanation or the
hint of a complaint or lawsuit, so they may take Anita's or someone else's
word for it that this is discrimanation and just do it. Other conf. like
M/MLA ask for printed papers to be avialable partly for this reason. Boy,
won't Singer be chagrined at this.
Just a thought.
