The early Christians' "way of dealing with this" was to issue a statement
prohibiting idolatry, fornication, strangled meat and blood. As you say, Act
15:19. (Conveniently side-stepping circumcision, which was a political
"hot-potato").
This would seem to reinforce my comment that, if we are to see through the
eyes of medieval persons, we must be aware of their belief systems.
Christians today, I understand, only comply with the first two of the above
prohibitions. Are you saying that medieval Christians complied with all
four?
