Dear All,
I note that the centre for evidence-based medicine in Oxford
has set up a service called Evidence-Based On -call. The aim of this is
to provide practical advice on common on-call problems by using the best
evidence available to create easy to use guidelines. This is a
co-operative venture with clinicians participating to produce
guidelines, and Critically Appraised Topics (using standard software).
The major advantages of this approach seem likely to be the speed and
breadth of coverage.
Although nursing cannot be directly compared with medicine in terms of
evidence -based practice, (and I acknowledge that to some extent the
jounal evidence-based nursing provides a source of crtically appraised
evidence) it may still be that an online co-operative system of
producing critically appraised nursing topics could have some
benefits
I will be interested to hear any views on this issue.
