So, the "problem" with the folks I saw was not really related directly

At Bréthencourt there were (aging and well-worn) service books for all (though
I don't recall if there was a facing French translation).
One of the most impressive things about the experience, as perhaps I implied,
was the fully *participatory* nature of the service.
The whole place was jumpin and followed that fellow out into the rain without
missing a beat.
