Applications are invited for a Lecturer in Islamic Studies in the
Department of Theology and Religious Studies. The
successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and innovative teacher
with a good publications record, will be expected
actively to recruit research students, and will play a full part in
departmental administration. Any field of Islamic Studies
will be considered, but applications are particularly encouraged
from specialists in Islam and development studies, or
those with a regional specialisation in South Asia, Europe or
Africa. A knowledge of Arabic, Persian, Urdu, or another
relevant language is essential. The appointee will take up the post
on 1 January 2000. The post is permanent.
