Need helpmaking sense of figures? Then why not attend this popular one day
workshop:
Figure it out for yourself
7 September, London
Managing library and information services effectively now demands a degree
of numeracy from many levels of staff.
Making sense of figures, drawing inferences and then influencing decision
making are all important in a climate of management which emphasises
measurement and accountability. That climate had tightened the need for
effectiveness and efficiency, and requires closer analysis of the
performance of services, both in terms of quality and quantity.
How will this event help you?
It will help:
* you focus on the quantitative approach, examining working techniques
involved in figuring our what is going on in your service
* Support you, through workshop activities, if you have to deal with
numbers or statistics but doubt your mathematical ability to cope
* enable you to start converting numbers into meaning and to become
familiar with some basic techniques, using a series of practical examples
and case studies to highlight this throughout the day.
By the end of the day you will:
* have examined basic methods for analysing data
* have an understanding of elementary quantitative techniques
* have considered the use of data in management of services.
