Scolari and the Tagg Oram Partnership are running a one day introductory
course for SphinxSurvey, Thursday 17 June 1999 in London.
SphinxSurvey software is a complete, easy-to-use system for designing a
questionnaire, entering data and analysing it. It handles different types
of questions including closed and open questions with numeric, text or
picture responses and possesses extensive facilities for handling open-ended
questions using coding or lexical analysis.
The one day course will provide a thorough grounding in each of the three
stages of SphinxSurvey: designing the questionnaire, entering the data and
analysing the results. The emphasis will be on ordinal, categorical and
open-ended text data rather than numerical analysis. No previous knowledge
of SphinxSurvey or statistics will be assumed.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- design and print a questionnaire
- enter data directly into SphinxSurvey or by import from another package
- analyse results of individual questions (univariate analysis)
- perform cross-analysis (bivariate analysis)
- include the results of analysis in a Word report
Course notes and sample data will be provided but you are welcome to bring
your own questionnaire or data.
