Yes, it can get cluttered, if you have many things you're doing at once
(which tends to be the qualitative experience): getting at a lot of data
in different ways means a lot of windows, and the more functions you
have up in separate windows, the more window moving (but jamming more
functions into fewer windows overloads menus).
>Is this my ignorance, something particular to the demo (the tutorial
window is one, but not the only, culprit), or something I'd
have to live with? If the latter, how easy is it to get used to working
around this?
There's no tutorial window of course when you're not in the tutorial
(when I'm teaching with the demo I just shift it off the RHS edge, and
it will stay there!) The other hang-around item is the Palette that
allows you to code or edit etc in the document or code-on or spread to
context etc from the coded material in a node. Great functions, you want
to use them all the time, but on a small screen the Palette sits above
the text; the answer is that this functionality is all in fast keys,
just close the Palette (from the Windows menu.) and use A for add
coding, E for edit etc.
Btw NVivo has a single document interface, so there is a window with
menubar and icons for each function: this means lots of windows
potentially, but managing them is easier since you can minimize them and
bring them back from the Project Pad.
hope this helps
