I am at a loss as to how to pursue this inquiry systematically, but
does anyone on the list know of images of miracles worked by St. Vincent
Ferrer (d. 1419). I am particularly interested in his reconstitution and
resuscitation of a baby cut into pieces by its mother.
Dear Laura,
I vaguely recall seeing some evidence of St Vincent Ferrer in Spanish
altarpieces. You might take a look at Judith Berg Sobre, Behind the
Altartable, an excellent recent book on 14th and 15th century Spanish
altarpieces. You might also check the various volumes of George
Kaftal's books on the iconography of Italian painting, published
region by region.
Hope this helps,
Jim Bugslag
