Very tangentially, in the 15th c. York play of the transfiguration, Peter
says of Jesus,
His clothyng is as white as snowe,
His face schynes as [th]e sonne....
The play was staged by the curriers, who, as Richard Beadle notes in his
edition of the York plays, "were a secondary branch of the leather trade,
engaged in the dressing and colouring of hides and skins" (441).
