Dear Geetha, Bruno, Andrew and others
Thank you very much for compiling this information and passing it
on to us. It's very valuable to have such a wide geographical reach.
As you can see, I've forwarded it to my colleagues at HighWire -
Bill Witscher and John Sack.
Despite what your note says, some users in the UK have also been
experiencing problems, which we believe stem from the failures of
some local ISPs to take account of recent changes in routing data.
(Peter Hearn has the fullest available story -although where
exactly the breakdown occurred - within the BMA's IT dept, with
the ISPs, or Internic - is, as always, obscured by fog).
I know over the past 24 hours there have been a couple of
downages related to software problems at HighWire.
I hope normal service has returned by the time you receive this. If
not, it would be helpful to email me directly with specific details,
including those of your internet service provider.
Tony Delamothe/BMJ
