Hi
'Tis the season for holidays in many parts of the academic world and
the Mailbase staff have asked me to remind all list members to think
very carefully about the use of their mail account at the end of each
academic year. Three things:
1. If you will be leaving an institution and closing your e-mail
account, then you should make sure that you also leave the list before
this happens - otherwise we have to clear up the resulting mess of
error messages. You can always join again later.
2. If your institution will be changing its e-mail account names over
the vacation (yes, this does happen), then you should also leave the
list before it changes and then join from the new address later.
3. If you will be away from your e-mail account for any length of time,
you should consider the 'suspend mail' option. Remember, you can catch
up on all the list messages in the archives when you get back (if you
really need to!).
You can find details of how to do all these things at the list web
site:
