I am currently trying to ascertain the proportion of public libraries
who have local studies collections that have them catalogued on:
a) card index systems
b) computerised library management systems
Could you please spare a few minutes to answer these few questions.
My questions are:
1. Do you have a card index for your local studies collection?
2. Do you have a computerised library management system onto
which local studies stock is catalogued?
3. Do you operate both types of system simultaneously?
4. If so which is more use practically.
5. What computerised library management system do you use?
6. Is this adequate for local studies materials?
7. If not what are the main problem areas?
8. Are you considering a hierarchical management system
especially for your local studies/archives collections?
9. If so what system will you chose.
If possible could all replies be sent to me personally so that the list
does not become clogged.

I will summarise the findings for the list if requested.
Many thanks in anticipation of positive replies
