Dear List members
A short time ago, I received a message from Carol Lefebvre concerning the
issue of quality filters and Ovid web gateway software. After consultation
with technical colleagues, I am happy to respond.
There are 2 ways to load filters into Ovid as permanent saved searches:
1) the system administrator can alter save rights to allow individual users
to save searches permanently. However, if users are sharing group
passwords, these searches will still be liaible to inadvertant change or
deletion
2) Ovid can manipulate filters/search strategies supplied as text files
(one search statement per line with no markup). They can be placed into the
account home directory and marked as a permanently saved search (even
though the users themselves aren't allowed to save them). Any user will
then be able to see and run these searches as required.
They wouldn't however be able to edit or delete a search. Considering this
fact they shouldn't consider including frequently changing material in this
project.
I hope this infromation is of use to both the original message writer in
Norway and also to others using the Ovid web interface.
Best regards
Jackie Cahoon
