Mark,
MathType 4 for Windows will help. It saves equations as GIF, anti-aliases
(smoothes the edges of equations for better appearance), and can convert
equations to MathML. Also works very well with MS Word.

Subject: Web software for online delivery of pre-tertiary maths
We are seeking a suitable Webpage design package into which we can
readily import Word documents, containing equations, for
the delivery of an online pre-entry arithmetic course.
Any information about what works/doesn't work would be appreciated.
Thanks,
