Dear Christopher,
You are right, Bernard Tiron was a French hermit who
preached, not an Italian hermit who preached, but I still think you will
find George's article useful. In regard to Bernard he believed that he
received his right to preach via mortification. Pope Paschal II also
gave him the OK to do so. See the always useful Herbert Grundmann,
Religious Movements in the Middle Ages, 1995, pp. 224-225.
If memory serves me right you will also find more info on Bernard in C.
Dereine, "Les predicateurs apostoliques dans les dioceses de Therouanne,
Tournai et Cambrai-Arras durant les annees 1075-1125." *Analecta
praemonstratensia* 69 (1983): 171-189.
Have a great time in K'Zoo Christopher!
All the best,
Carolyn
