Postdoctoral Research Assistant:
3D Numerical Modelling of Tectonics and Sedimentation
Basin & Stratigraphic Studies Group,
Department of Earth Sciences, The University of Manchester
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position, to develop
3D numerical models of structural and stratigraphic processes using high
performance computing techniques, and to apply the model(s) to selected
outcrop/subsurface case studies. The appointee will have a PhD in Earth
Sciences or a closely related discipline and should have expertise in
numerical modelling of structural and stratigraphic processes. Knowledge
of finite-difference, finite-element or discrete-element techniques is
preferred, and some experience of Unix and visualization techniques would
be useful, but not essential.
The appointment will be for a fixed period of 18 months in the first
instance and is available immediately. Starting salary will be up to
£17,570 p.a. (under review) depending on experience and qualifications.
