I found a Vulgate (4-volume, pocket-sized hardback) at the annual U.S. State Department book sale in Washington, DC, one year. I've found a lot of very interesting things at book sales that receive donations from retired educated people and from estates.
Most charity book sales I've heard of are held in the autumn, but there are exceptions. I suggest paying special attention to ones held by organizations that have a lot of educated readers, such as professional retirees' groups and libraries in communities that attract well-to-do retirees (especially writers -- one way to get reviewers' copies).
