Dear Elena:
In one parish church at Burgos (Spain) an interesting
depiction of the Last Supper is kept. The chronology is c. 1480-90 (which
in Spanish art means Gothic) .
In the center of the table there is a tray with an animal, but it is
difficult to say whether it is a lamb (the head recalls a bird's). There are
two other trays; one at the left, with small pieces of food, maybe an sliced
sausage; the other at the right, but I cannot figure out what kind of food
is on it (maybe some vegetable: a cabbage?)
Christ is shown raising a host in his hands, and three of the cups
clearly resemble chalices.
Judas is sitting at the left end of the table; he holds a red bag
with the thirty silver coins. What is surprising is that he too has a halo (!)
Carlos
