I have been a silent participant on the list so far, but in anticipation
of my first posting, let me introduce myself.
I am in my second year teaching Religious Studies at St. Thomas [of
Villanova] University in Miami, FL. My doctoral dissertation was on
Thomas Aquinas' commentary on the Psalms. However, my teaching rarely
intersects with medieval biblical exegesis; so the conversation on this
list provides a welcome return to things medieval.
Here's my posting. I've enjoyed the discussion of the Last Supper in
art. Can anyone suggest books or articles that give an overview of the
Last Supper as a subject in art? I would also be interested in
bibliography on the function of Last Supper art. That is, has anything
been written about the implications of the physical placement (eg., a
fresco in a refectory, a church painting, etc.) of Last Supper art?
Thanks for your help,
Tom Ryan
