Indeed, I celebrated Mass twice on this day, at the end of each Mass
blessing the throats of the congregation with two crossed candles, blessed
on the previous day,
the feast of Candlemass. Not every priest now bothers with this ceremony,
which is not prescribed in the Missal, but I have a certain devotion to him
as I once had a fishbone removed from my own throat on his feast day.
