Dewey 21 - Revision of UK Area Tables
4 March, London (half day workshops a.m. or p.m.)
The revision of the Dewey 21 area tables for Scotland, England and Wales
with numbers for the latest local government authorities is due for
publication in February 1999.
How will this event help you?
This workshop will:
* provide a detailed explanation of what the revised area tables
contains
* give you the opportunity to classify titles using the new tables
By the end of the day you will have:
* received an explanation of how the area tables were developed
* identified how the new and former local authorities are dealt with
in the tables
* had experience in using the revised tables to place works in the
correct number
Who will benefit from attending?
If you apply, teach or use Dewey and will need to classify works on the new
unitary authorities and other geographically based material this workshop
will be directly relevant.
Do you need previous experience?
Some previous knowledge of the Dewey Classification is recommended to gain
maximum advantage.
A copy of the revised UK Areas tables will be given to each participant. To
be able to complete the practical exercises participants are requested to
bring their own copy of Volume 2 (Schedules 000-599) with them.
