Dear Colleagues,
Thanks to all those who have so far responded to our brief questionnaire
concerning German spelling reform.
It shows that
I had hoped that this might have generated some wider discussion or that at
least the responses would have been read by others on the list, but I see
that the list is set up so that if you use the reply feature of your
mailer, it automatically directs the reply privately to the sender and not
to the rest of the list. I wonder if this is necessarily a good thing.
Perhaps it is intentional, but it means that we are unlikely to get
discussions going, unless people specifically include the list in the reply
field.
I should be happy to produce some kind of résumé of the answers to the
questionnaire for the whole of the list, but usually one answer will
provoke additional discussion, so I would plead for the list-owners to
consider changing the reply-to feature to redirect replies to the whole
list unless someone specifically asks for a private reply.
Perhaps I should forward the replies so far received back to the list?
Best wishes,
David Yeandle
