Dear list members,
I am working as advisor at the Ministry of health in Spain. I am now
working in developing criteria for providing different types of
wheelchairs with public funds.
I am finding a lot of problems getting information on this topic in the
traditional published literature. I guess part of the problem is that
most of it is grey literature. That is the reason why I asking for your
help.
Could please anybody inform me about:
1. other countries'experiences in developing criteria at a national or
local level (are you providing free wheelchair following explicit or
implicit criteria?);
2. publications or "grey literature" related to this topic. All I have
is an article by Dr. Cristopher W Roy (Southern General Hospital NHS
Trust, Glasgow) in the BMJ.
3. The e-mail or telephone number of Christopher Roy;
4. the way of getting a copy of the following reference:
Dpeartment of Health. Powered indoor/outdoor wheelchairs for
severely disabled people. Leeds: DoH, 1996 (HSG(96)34.)
5. Studies on the prevalence of diseases and health care conditions
requiring different types of wheelchairs (what is the consumption of
wheelchairs in other countries, per capita?);
6.Studies on the demand of different wheelchairs (are there predictions
on the need of wheelchairs?).
I would really appreciate any help in answering to any of these
questions. In case of getting answers to my query, I would send back to
you a summary of the responses obtained.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Laura Pellisé
