Dear List members,
I am working on sermons on virginity by Jacques de Vitry. I have been
unable to find the following citations on CETEDOC. If anyone out there
has any idea where the following quotes come from I would be most
grateful for any information.
The first quote is supposedly by Seneca, but Jacques de Vitry has been
known to misquote!
Quis placere potest populo cui placet uirtus, malis artibus popularis
fauor queritur.
The second is supposedly Augustine:
Omnis anima uel est sponsa Christi uel est meretrix diaboli.
In advance, thank you!
Carolyn
