The first definition for chapel is: the outlying architectural space in the
church dedicated to a specific cult, or a building for the private devotion
(ex.: royal chapels)
I can't say if the word "chapel" may be used differently regarding to the
language, but "chapelle" in french refers also to:
The whole ornemental installation which highlight the choir, or a chapel (
i.e. furniture, tapestry, ecclesiastical clothes, etc.) ; it's not very
