Stuart
it's a case of the drunk looking for his door key under the streetlamp -
he didn't drop it there, but the light's much better!
why do you (and whoever asked you) think that a 'list of management
competencies' will assist & help in the ways you indicate? Isn't this a
premature choice of approaches for what is really the task of 'analysing
training & development needs'. The competence approach has not shown
itself to be a universal, generic way of doing this in an effective and
efficient manner (but is a good way for consultants to make money!).
I assume that your criteria for 'practical' include 'something which
works in practice'. So why not do the practical thing - analyse the
situation to establish how training and development intervetions can
help improve performance?
