[1] "CRITICAL MUSICOLOGY" CALL FOR PAPERS
"Critical Musicology" (ISSN 1468-6066) is a fully refereed critical
musicology journal appearing exclusively on the Internet, and which is
fully recognised by the UK Research Assessment Exercise:
"Electronically-disseminated publications (such as on-line journal
contributions) will be assessed on the same basis as printed materials."
(RAE 2001 Criteria, 2.58 Music, UoA 67,
http://www.rae.ac.uk/Pubs/4_99/ByUoA/UoA67.doc).
The purpose of the journal is to provide an ever-expanding library of
papers which address the wide number of issues that have become part of
the field of critical musicology. Given the diverse number of practices
within this field, "Critical Musicology" is designed to encompass a
plurality of topics, discourses, and methodologies.
Papers are invited from interested parties, who can access the journal
without payment or subscription at:

[2] LAUNCH OF OGMIOS PRESS
Ogmios Press is a new, non-profit online multi-disciplinary academic
publishing house which aims to provide a number of services to humanities
scholars and other interested parties free of charge, hosted by the
Department of Music at the University of Leeds, England. We offer
publication of online journals and other e-texts ranging from books
through to PhD theses, occasional papers and reviews, as well as managing
a number of academic e-mail discussion communities on various subjects.
Our policy is to provide online access to as diverse a range of materials
as possible which are of use to the contemporary academic community and
others. There is no disciplinary or ideological bias in our choice of
publications, and we welcome suggestions from our readers for possible
future projects. Starting in September, 1999, we hope to rapidly increase
not only our publications list, but also to expand the number of services
which we can offer. Our aims, above all, are to support the principles of
academic inquiry, integrity and freedom of thought and writing.
Ogmios Press currently publishes two academic online journals: "Critical
Musicology" (see above) and "Celtic Cultural Studies"
(http://www.leeds.ac.uk/music/DeptInfo/Staff/SST/CCS/ccs-front.html). The
press can be accessed at the following website, which is currently under
construction:
