Postdoctoral Research Position
in
Photon Echo Studies of Proteins
Imperial College
Department of Chemistry
The project involves comparing the results of nonlinear femtosecond
methods, such as stimulated photon echoes, with Quantum Mechanical/
Molecular Mechanical (QM/MM) calculations of protein dynamics. This work
forms part of a collaborative programme between Drs Klug and Gould, of the
Chemistry Department at Imperial College. The successful applicant will be
responsible for the operation of a specially constructed Ti:Sapphire laser
system which generates tuneable 15 fs optical pulses, and is designed for
the study of condensed phase chemical dynamics.
The applicant will be expected to assist in the supervision of postgraduate
students working on related projects, in addition to undertaking his/her
own experimental studies.
The position is available for up to two years. Deadline for applications
1/5/99. A successful applicant should have some previous experience of
femtosecond or nonlinear optical spectroscopy.
