Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position available starting June
1999 in the laboratory of Richard A. Loomis at Washington University in
St. Louis, MO. We are developing a project that involves probing and
controlling bimolecular reactions in clusters, more specificically radical
chemistry important in atmospheric and combustion chemistry. The
experiments will incorporate molecular expansions, electrical dishcarges for
creating the radicals, molecular spectroscopy of the weakly bound, pre-
reactive complexes using nanosecond pulsed dye lasers, and multiple
femtosecond (and picosecond) OPA lasers for time resolution and quantum
control of the reactions.
Preferred candidates include those that have had some experience with the
appropriate techniques and science, although a lack of experience in these
areas does not necessarily preclude consideration. The appointment is for
one year, renewable for another year, with a salary commensurate with
qualifications. The compensation package includes health benefits, etc.
offered by Washington University. Interested candidates are encouraged
to send a CV (including a publication list), a brief summary of their
dissertation research, and the names of three references to me by April 1,
1999 at the following address:
